a word about search engine optimization —
A major hosting company offers a "Submit
Your Site to Major Search Engines" for $34.95
/month with a $79.00 set-up fee.
This is "Search Engine Optimization."
They claim that they will submit your web
site to major search engines such as Google® and Yahoo!®.
PLUS!!! (there's always a 'plus' or 'and much more' isn't there?)
they will provide recommendations for optimizing your web site
to appear higher in search results.
Other than the fact that there are hostile corporate takeovers all the time and it's impossible to know who's going to own what and if they are going to offer advertised services! Read on...
There are certain things YOU can
do to get found:
- Make sure the first 8-10 words of your
the title (<title>) in your html code gives enough information
for a search spider.
Example: Joe Smith actor voiceover talent
teleprompter SAG AEA.
That's eight right there. Add more if you like (no need for commas)
- Design your site with multiple pages and links.
- Make it a quality site with navigable links that work, that is, make it "search engine friendly" with menus, content management systems, URLs, and shopping carts (if you are a merchant) that are easy to optimize.
RUNNING ADS:
Google's AdSense 5,338-word Terms and Conditions page was too much to wade through. Although it does not cost you anything unless people click on your ads, you have to run ads.
